ROAD/LANE/SHOULDER CLOSURES
Nighttime Lane Closures
Nighttime Lane Closures possible Sunday through Thursday nights, 5/22 through 5/26 between the hours of 8:00 PM and 6:00 AM, weather permitting:
- I-91 NB (Exit 24 to Exit 29) for overhead sign removal, shim paving, and to pave the median
- I-91 SB (Whitehead Highway to Exit 28) for curbing
- I-91 SB (Cove Bridge to Route 3 NB on-ramp to I-91 SB) for overhead sign removal and shim paving
- Route 5/15 NB (Exit 89 to Exit 91) to pave the median
- Route 5/15 SB (I-84 WB Exit 57 ramp to the Charter Oak Bridge) to pave the median
- I-84 WB (Exit 57 ramp to Route 5/15SB) to pave the median
Intermittent Highway Closures
- Close I-91 NB and SB - Intermittent 15-minute Highway Closures Sunday night, 5/22, from 12:00 AM to 5:00 AM, for overhead sign removal and shim paving.
Nighttime Road Closures
Nighttime Road Closures and Detours are possible between the hours of 8:00 PM and 6:00 AM, weather permitting, as follows:
- Close I-91 NB on-ramp from Route 3 NB and SB – Ramp closure (Detour through Great Meadow Road Exit Sunday and Monday nights, 5/22 & 5/23, for overhead sign removal and shim paving
- Close Route 3 SB on-ramp to I-91 NB – Ramp closure – Sunday night, 5/22, for curbing
- Close I-91 SB Exit 25 S – Ramp closure - Sunday night, 5/22, for curbing
- Close I-91 NB Exit 25/26 – Ramp closure – Monday night, 5/23, for shim paving
- Close the I-91 NB on-ramp from Great Meadow Road – Ramp closure – Tuesday night, 5/24, for shim paving
No closures are anticipated Friday through Monday, 5/27 through 5/30.
LONG-TERM ROADWAY CLOSURES AND DETOURS
- Close I-91 Northbound Exit 28
- Route 5/15 SB on-ramp from Main Street in East Hartford (ramp closure) for Route 5/15 widening and bridge work
What's Happening Now
- Completing bridge joints on Charter Oak Bridge (bridge 6000)
- Continue Route 15 median work in East Hartford
- Continue reconstruction of Route 15 SB Exit 86 gore
- Continue ramp milling and paving project wide
- Continue installation of new highway lighting throughout project
- Continue work for the improvement of I-91 southbound (SB) in Wethersfield
- Continue grading slopes, installing new landscaping and turf establishment
- Installing new metal beam rail and curb
- Continue shim paving of I-91 NB in Wethersfield
